PROVIDING QUALITY RADON MITIGATION SINCE 1985

Radon Systems provides high quality active soil depressurization systems that are guaranteed to reduce elevated radon levels. Should a radon mitigation system be needed, Radon Systems will custom design a system based on the building characteristics of each individual home/building.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION COLLECTED DURING THE FREE ON-SITE INVESTIGATION INCLUDES:
  • Previous test results.
  • Proper sizing of a radon mitigation fan and duct diameter.
  • Amount of caulking and sealing necessary to improve pressure field extension and reduce air noise.
  • Location of thermal bypasses.
  • Inspect for hollow block top leaks.
  • Check for wall floor joint leaks.
  • Check plumbing penetrations and all floor drains for water traps.
  • Check all expansion joints in floors.
  • Check for footers or thickened slabs.
  • Inspect sump pump for type (submersible or pedestal).
  • Determine foundation material.
  • Check crawl space for gravel and access.
  • Check for recently installed waterproofing.
  • Check for untrapped air-conditioning condensate lines.
The above minimum information is needed to properly design any radon mitigation system. No one mitigation system “fits” all buildings.
THEREFORE, NO RADON MITIGATION SYSTEM SHOULD EVER BE DESIGNED OVER THE PHONE.

Section 11.1 of the EPA Radon Mitigation Standards states that:
The contractor shall conduct a thorough visual inspection of the building prior to initiating any radon mitigation work. The inspection is intended to identify building characteristics and configurations (e.g. large cracks in slabs, exposed earth in crawl spaces, open stairways to basements) and operational conditions (e.g. continuously running HVAC systems or operational windows) that might affect the design, installation and effectiveness of radon mitigation systems. As part of this inspection, clients should be asked to provide any available information on the building (e.g. construction specifications, pictures, drawings, etc.) that might be of value in determining the radon mitigation strategy.
Radon Systems installs approximately 600 systems per year in residential/commercial properties and an additional 300 systems per year in new construction houses. Several large buildings have been mitigated by Radon Systems. Included in the list are the Ohio Statehouse; Garfield Elementary School; EPA building in Dayton, Ohio; The Grand Court retirement home in Findlay, Ohio; Kobacher House at Riverside Hospital; Meridian apartment complex in Columbus, Ohio; and several large apartment complexes.
