Learn More About Diagnostic Testing
If we find high levels of radon or chemical vapors in your property, before designing a mitigation system, we need to perform an air pressure field diagnostic.
Field diagnostics is a process of discovering the measurements under the slab of a building. We use micro manometers to measure the air pressure. Most residential buildings will have positive pressure, with air being forced up through the slab due to the natural stack effect or HVAC system.
We can combine radon soil gas testing and mitigation for a complete radon removal system. Air pressure field diagnostics entails drilling a suction point in the slab and drilling tiny test holes throughout the slab. Once the holes are drilled, a micro manometer is connected to each test hole to provide an air pressure reading. A fan unit is then connected to the cored pit and turned on to see the field extension or achieved negative pressure measurement under the slab. The field extension measurements will determine the design of a radon gas mitigation system for each home requiring removal. The fan units required to achieve adequate airflow will be determined in addition to some suction points needed, PVC vent stack sizing, and routing of vent stack through the foundation wall or roof.
